The Sazerac Cocktail is considered the forefather of cocktails and, with its creation in the 1830s, marks the beginning of cocktail history. As one of the first named cocktails, it represents nearly 200 years of bar culture. Originally created in New Orleans by a pharmacist to market his bitters, the drink, made of cognac, sugar, and bitters, was later refined with absinthe – thus developing into one of the most famous absinthe cocktails in the world.
If you want to enjoy the “Adam” of cocktails in its most authentic form, rely on the original recipe: Cognac XO, aromatic bitters, fine sugar and a touch of absinthe, rounded off with a fresh lemon zest.
